Ask most actors and they’ll tell you that we deal with rejection all the time. That is why you get to hear stuff like out of 10 auditions you’ll get rejected 9 times and how we only find work 1% of the time.
Yes, I know the percentages don’t tally. But then again, we are actors, not statisticians. 😛
Usually, we’ll get rejected silently. Thats why you always hear something to the tune of “Don’t call us, we’ll call you”. So, if we don’t get to hear from the production company after a period of time, its always safe to say the role is as good as gone.
Of course, sometimes, in fact, rarely, they’ll call you and tell you, nah, nope, you didn’t get it. This is is really nice of them to do so, and actors who are just starting out will really appreciate that. Cuz, take it from someone who knows, the silent treatment sure takes a hell lot of getting used to. 😛
And then you have, on very, very rare occasions like today, you get rejected thus :
“You are too good looking for this role”.
I think this is the first time I kenna (got) this kind of rejection.
And even though I was disappointed not to have landed the role, its really hard to stay too disappointed for long. 😉 Hehehe.
Sigh, if only all my rejections were dealt to me this way …
