These days, everything is getting more expensive.
So I guess its hardly surprising to find the cost of chasing my dream going up as well.
My biggest client, whom I have been servicing for the past three years, asked me quite seriously, to consider a full time position in his firm. He hinted that I could well be made a partner of the firm in the not too distant future as well. His offer comes in the midst of a trying time in the industry, one which I could foresee myself doing more for less in my current status quo.
As tempting as the offer sounds, I told him I cannot seriously consider giving my dreams up now. Next year’s promising to be quite an eventful year. Word is out on the street that there will be a helluva more local productions next year, as P5 ups its ante to provide more quality local entertainment.
If all goes well, this could be a huge turning point in the industry. And potentially, a huge turning point for me as well. Yeah, I’m choosing to see that the glass is half-full, and not half-empty.
Some of you might be wondering why I’ve been agonising over this kind of issue all year. Well, for one thing, it is the seventh year itch. But on a more serious note, I’m not getting any younger and I need to seriously consider the viability of my choices.
Cuz at the end of the day, I still hope to settle down. And I can’t do that if I’m gonna be a struggling actor all my life.
Well, not in pragmatic Singapore anyway.
