Apparently I couldn’t totally mask the ramifications of yesterday’s incident before the audition; not that it was an easy task(mask) to do so. Qiaoyun told me today the director felt that I wasn’t interested in the role. So I asked her if she felt I was totally out of it when I was auditioning the role.
She told me that, no, she did felt I was in it when I was auditioning. However, she added that before and after the actual take, my energy level was low and I looked sianz… so the director prolly picked that up and felt I wasn’t too keen for the role. So much so that they are considering another actor (my jinx) for the role.
I feel a bit miffed that I’m being judged for my demeanour outside the role, instead of how I’ve performed for the role. And I guess a bit of that has transpired over my real life as well. Sigh.
Actually, I feel that our behaviour outside of the camera is as important as on-camera. Let’s say there are 2 equally talented actors who come for an audition, who both give about the same level of good performance. Who would they choose?
They might then look at other qualities, like: Who comes across as more pleasant and could be easier/better/more fun to work with? Who is punctual and doesn’t give attitude? Who is more highly recommended by peers? Who seems to have more creative ideas who could contribute to the film? And many more, I expect.
In all honesty, I think talent is not everything in showbiz. So, I feel it’s best to try to score points in every area, and not just between action and cut. 😛
Anyway, I hope things are better for you now. Don’t know what your “incident” is, but hope it all works out.
QY, all I can say is I’m a bigger diva than you. *bleah*
