So half the year’s gone already.
Can’t say the acting front has been as good as I thought it would be. Despite the excitement generated through the grapevine about more projects this year, I’m hardly seeing it. All I can say is that even though there may be more projects, they are still more likely to use what they currently have on hand, than to cast the net wider.
Or worse, just grab some unknown foreign “talent”. Same old drill. Silly me for thinking it would be different.
I have done a grand total of 4 acting jobs this half year, and all are non mainstream. Sure, the Woh Hup advert has aired but that’s last year’s work. There has been some corporate video jobs knocking, but really, there’s nary a project to get excited over. I am hopeful for some casting calls which I have responded last week, but since I’ve not heard from them, I shouldn’t really be holding out too much.
On the financial side of things, this half year has been one of poor cash flows, as my projects are taking a tad too long to finalise due to some long overdue regulatory pressure on the industry. Currently, its a two month lag time, and its seriously eating into my savings. I’m probably making it sound worse than it really is, but I’m always one to call a negative cash flow a negative cash flow. Or a spade a spade, for you layers of men.
But I’ll survive, especially if I finish up what I set out to do this month.
As for other matters, I got only one thing to say :
what do you think i’ve been doing for the past few years?? it IS tough.
It’s a tough year for everybody. We just have to ride it out one way or another.
