By now, everyone and their dog would have watched this. If you have not, stop reading this post and head on out right now and catch it!
Movies are all about the art of story-telling, and ooh what a grand tale this one was. Not only did it do justice to the already awesome graphic novel by Frank Miller, it also immerses you totally into the story’s setting and its characters in a way more than the novel ever could on its own.
Which all the more highlight the acting prowess of its cast. Acting in front of a blue screen is no mean feat; I can tell you that. On top of acting, an actor has to use his imagination concurrently as well, or he would end up looking like he’s acting in front of a blank screen to his audience. Of course, good direction is necessary to achieve this as well, and I think the director has done well in this movie as well.
Looking at the success of this movie and Sin City, I wonder if more movies will be made thru the use of blue screen. Logistics wise, its a film-maker’s dream, cuz every scene can be shot indoors and in one location! (Talk about breaking under-running records man, hehehe.) If its gonna go this way in the future, I might as well start training my powers of the imagination, not that I’m in lack. Apparently all my friends say I have tons of “healthy” imagination. -_-”
And on the topics of friends, I was telling those in Telon that this movie has totally changed me. I now live by the law of “Never Surrender and Never Retreat” … thereby resulting in my character making a whole lot more corpse runs due to me dying at a higher frequency. And I’m beginning to show a whole new appreciation for my shield as well, although these days I seem to be lying on it more often than not. 😛
Oh and in case you guys are wondering, the Oracle was played by Kelly Craig. 😉
go catch the History Boys. It was good =)
